If you read last week’s blog and you find yourself in the people-pleasers category, this blog is perfect for you. One way to set boundaries and protect your peace is saying no to things you don’t have the time, recourse, money, energy, or desire for. Saying no is something that requires practice. Many times we arent sure how to tell someone no so here is a list of 10 different ways to tell someone no.
10 ways to tell someone no:
- ” I won’t be able to do that for you.”
- “I appreciate the offer, but I’m not able to commit to that right now.”
- “Thank you for thinking of me, but I have to decline.”
- ” I can’t help you with that at this time.”
- “I have other commitments that need my attention right now.”
- “I would love to help, but unfortunately, it’s not possible for me to do so.”
- “I’m sorry, but I’m not comfortable with that request.”
- “Unfortunately, I have to prioritize my own needs right now.”
- “I have to respectfully decline.”
- “I’m not the best fit for that, but I hope you find someone who can help you.”

If this is something you struggle with, I highly recommend you practice saying these out loud. Confidence is an important component when saying no. If you don’t say it with a confident tone (no stammering or looking at the floor), they aren’t going to take you seriously and push back.
Remember, it’s important to be respectful and polite when saying no. It’s okay to prioritize your own needs and boundaries, and saying no doesn’t make you a bad person. Communication is key, so try to be honest and clear in your response.
